2019 Big E Railroad Hobby Show

Last Saturday, I took a charter bus out of NYC and spent a good portion of the day at the famed Big E Railroad Hobby Show, ran by the Amherst Railway Society.

I knew it would be mostly HO, but I wanted to see what all the hubbub about this show was worth. It definitely is primarily an HO show, but brings together vendors and manufacturers of trains of all scales. For an O scale person, there isn't much here except electronics, scenery, and library building items, such as books and photos.

There were two 2-rail layouts, one with a legendary Bascule bridge and another switching layout that was built last year to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the show. The show does have a significant draw to the public and for families, so its definitely a show to help expand the hobby and busier than any other show I've visited in recent memory. For me, there was lots of inspiration from nicely done HO layouts. This is shown in the photos and videos below.
